Privacy Policy

This site (www.water-temperature-forecast.com, the "Service") is operated by Advanced Field Technologies, Oregon, USA ("we," "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you register, we collect your email address, name (optional), organization (optional), and a hashed password (we never store plaintext passwords; we use bcrypt).

Subscription & billing information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your card number or CVV. We retain only a Stripe customer ID, the subscription tier you purchased, and the subscription status (active, past-due, cancelled).

Usage data

We log: download history (which station, format, timestamp, IP address); alert rules you create and their trigger history; API key usage timestamps; and standard web-server logs (URL, timestamp, IP, user-agent).

Analytics

We do not use third-party tracking analytics (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.). Sponsor-banner impressions and clicks are counted in aggregate without individual identification.

2. How We Use Information

To operate the Service (deliver forecasts, run alerts, enforce plan limits).
To process subscription payments via Stripe.
To send you transactional email (account confirmations, alert notifications, weekly digests if you opt in).
To improve the underlying water-temperature models, in aggregated and anonymized form.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not show third-party advertising. Sponsor banners are managed directly by us, with no tracking pixels.

3. Data Sharing

We share data only with the limited service providers required to operate the Service:

Stripe, Inc. — payment processing
Hosting provider — server infrastructure
Email provider (Gmail SMTP) — transactional email

We may also disclose information if required by law (subpoena, court order) or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

4. Data Retention

Account and subscription records are retained for as long as your account is active, plus 3 years after closure for tax and audit purposes. Server access logs are retained for 90 days. Alert history is retained for 1 year.

5. Your Rights

You may at any time:

View and correct your account information from the User Portal.
Cancel your subscription from the User Portal (effective at the end of the billing period).
Request deletion of your account and personal data by emailing info@advancedfield.tech. We will delete your account within 30 days.

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under CCPA, including the right to know what categories of information we collect and to opt out of any sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information).

6. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

7. Security

We use TLS 1.2+ for all connections, bcrypt for password hashing, and JWT bearer tokens with a 24-hour expiry for authentication. Encrypted backups of the database are stored on a separate on-premise drive. Despite reasonable safeguards, no system is perfectly secure; you use the Service at your own risk.

8. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be announced by email to active subscribers.
